VP Marketing


Depop is the most fun way to buy and sell straight from your pocket. It’s social, it’s unique, and it’s growing. We have an international team of 85 with our HQ in London, and teams in New York and Milan. We’re backed by some of the most prestigious VC’s in the industry and are now looking for an innovative marketing leader to help us take Depop to the world.

We’ve spent years focusing on community as an integral part of our growth strategy, not following the traditional route of start-up growth. Where has it got us? From zero to over 6 million users in just a few years with little marketing investment in standard channels. Our community love Depop and are our biggest promoters, but to help us scale Depop we need a marketing leader who understands traditional marketing, data infrastructure and the contribution of product and community to overall sustainable growth.

Our current efforts focus on a creative blend of curated editorial, international events, community development and tactical growth initiatives. We’re also adding to our war chest to invest in growth, and need you to develop our marketing strategy to maximise growth opportunities and drive user acquisition, retention and sustainable growth through both digital and offline channels while refining our commercial monetisation strategy to deliver against stretch targets.


  • Leading an international team of 15+ Depop superstars across our Growth, Partnerships and Community Development teams, providing guidance, support and development for your people as you grow the impact of the Marketing function.
  • Utilising the full mix of digital channels, data analytics and AB testing: display, mobile, SEO, viral, social, with a focus on consistent acquisition of new users.
  • Defining conversion and retention strategies to increase the activity of users (MAU), and cross-sell/up-sell initiatives so that buyers become sellers and vice versa.
  • Setting and delivering against revenue growth targets in collaboration with the senior leadership team; building a commercial strategy link to the product roadmap, growing maximum monetisation potential measured in transaction volume and increased LTV.
  • Growing the presence of the brand by establishing influential user communities and ensuring they become advocates of the Depop product and story.
  • Continuing to improve how we grow and manage our community of highly engaged users, utilising all leading-edge techniques available including creating opportunities for PR and brand placement such as brand collaborations and events.
  • Create and manage specific demand generation campaigns that are regionally tailored for individual geographies and user segments.
  • Work closely with our visionary Founder and Branding teams to ensure all marketing efforts utilise our brand identity and unlock our innate creative talent.


  • You’re an exceptional people leader able to develop your team to their full potential, ensuring maximum impact in roles and able to coach and grow individuals into stars.
  • Proven track record of scaling a digital business (marketplace preferable) where building online/offline communities has been a cornerstone of growth strategy.
  • World-class and internal experience in digital and performance marketing across all channels (particularly digital and content marketing).
  • Proven track record of building a marketing function to achieve commercial scale and growth with the aim of rapidly monetising a high-growth business.
  • Inspirational and effective team leadership experience; a proven leader of multi-functional and international multi-territory teams.
  • Hands on experience using leading-edge tools to improve user optimisation and conversion and preferably experience of building a mobile app business.
  • Strong understanding of current online marketing concepts, strategy and best practice.
  • Analytical and highly numerate with significant commercial acumen while being a strong relationship builder with high EQ and a passion for our product category.
  • Biased towards action, proactively creating ideas and engineering solutions, while able to work collaboratively within a driven and creative leadership team.
