Software Development Manager

We’re on the hunt for a Software Development Manager to work as part of our team to lead programme activities associated with the development of front and back end projects, impacting our infrastructure and supporting exceptional mobile and web experiences for our users.


  • Translate the Product and Engineering roadmap into execution plan regularly reporting progress and issues to the VP of Engineering and Product.
  • Manage cross-functional software engineering projects covering multiple sub-teams and disciplines.
  • Lead on the definition, development and management of end-to-end project plans and sprint management to ensure timely delivery and quality outputs.
  • Provide hands-on programme management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases.
  • Perform change management and risk management on technical projects.
  • Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks, working closely with all parts of the Engineering function and leading sprints as required.
  • Drive internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions embedding key learnings from successes and issues.
  • Interface with Engineering, Product and the functional owners from Operations, Community Development and Marketing for project requirements and scope
  • Help drive product and technology decisions to align with higher-level strategic goals of the company.
  • Coach Product Managers, Scrum Masters and development teams in following Agile methodologies in the most efficient and effective way possible.
  • Line manage some members of the Engineering team.


  • Qualification in programme management or equivalent experience.
  • Engineering background strongly advantageous, with a preference for mobile first or technology start-ups.
  • Extensive experience with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
  • Able to handle complexity and ambiguity with ease, capable of focusing on the detail whilst keeping the bigger picture in mind at all times.
  • A team player who is highly self-motivated and determined, driven and passionate about delivering excellent results through others.
