How to grow your shop

Sell more, grow faster, and build a shop that lasts
Scaling up on our discovery-driven platform is about getting the basics right. Sellers who post regularly, price competitively, and present their items well will reap the rewards.
Keeping up momentum through consistent posting, rather than bursts of activity, is key. Put simply – it creates more entry points to your shop, which leads to more engagement. Those sought-after clicks, saves and purchases tell Depop that your listings are worth showcasing to more buyers, which in turn drives more sales.

Here's how that cycle works in practice:
• Consistent posting means there are more entry points to your shop
• More entry points = more engagement
• This engagement signals to Depop that listings should be put in front of more buyers
• Greater visibility leads to more sales and the cycle continues
Maximizing your visibility

Post and schedule consistently
The more often you list, the more likely it is that buyers will discover your shop. It’s important to space your listings out rather than posting in one go because each listing also works as an advert for your shop. Think of it like this – running three ads back-to-back on the same channel is far less effective than running them across different channels throughout the day.
If you have a lot of items, cross-listing tools can automate your pacing. If you post directly on Depop, use drafts to prepare listings in advance and pepper them through the day.
Refine descriptions and attributes
Your descriptions matter. Luckily we have an AI listing tool to make the process a lot quicker. Snap a photo and Depop auto-populates the listing description and item attributes – including category, colour, sub-category and brand. You can then make changes to suit you.
Think about the words and terms you would use if you were searching on Depop, then add them to your listings. Fill out all listing attributes (color, brand, style, fabric, occasion) and ensure your description, attributes and photos all align. The more accurate your description is, the better that Depop can match it with shoppers most likely to buy it.
Refresh unloved listings
If an item has been live for a while without much engagement, don’t just repost it. Refresh the listing by shooting new photos, revisiting the description, and checking the price against comparable listings.
Engaging buyers

Visibility gets your listing in front of buyers but your item needs to be well presented to attract engagement.
Fine tune your photos
Make your items stand out with a stellar cover photo and develop a coherent photographic style across your shop to inspire buyer trust. Use a clean surface or Depop's in-app background removal tool to keep your listings consistent. Shoot in natural light or with a softbox or ring light. Modelled shots tend to perform best. Flat lays on simple backgrounds also do well. And don’t skip ironing or steaming your item!
Price it right
Price is often a deciding factor for buyers so try to beat or be competitive with the best available price. And as market prices shift over time, it’s a good idea to regularly review your live inventory.
If you cross-list from other platforms, consider the fact that in the US and UK, Depop doesn’t charge selling fees. Instead, buyers pay a marketplace fee and, by default, buyers pay for shipping. This means that items priced the same as on other platforms will be less competitive here so adjust your pricing accordingly.
Use our selling tools
Running a discount using our Discount tool places an icon on your listing in search results. This increases click-through rate without needing to change your photos or copy.
The Boosted Listings tool gives individual items additional visibility in search while the Boost Shop feature does the same across all your listings automatically. And you only pay fee if the item sells.
Turn on auto-respond to offers to convert interest into sales. By setting your floor price, you can automatically accept offers and instantly engage buyers while they’re still ready to purchase.
Running your shop at scale

The more efficiently you can manage your listing process, the better you can show up on the platform – and the more fun you’ll have! These habits make a difference at volume by turning listing into a breeze.
Batch your workflow
Rather than completing every step of listing one item before moving to the next, batch each stage separately. Shoot everything in one session, edit in another, and then move onto writing descriptions. This system will make your listings a much lighter lift.
Standardize your descriptions
Develop a repeatable template that ensures every listing includes all the key attributes and that your inventory feels harmonious. It’ll help Depop to match your listings to the right buyers and lend your shop a professional edge.
Put yourself in a buyer’s shoes
Search for your own items as a buyer would. How do your listings compare? Are your prices compelling? Does your photography draw the eye? This helps you to figure out what's working and what needs to change.
