South Wind by Norman Douglas hardcover in good used condition "South Wind is a witty, satirical novel set on the fictional Mediterranean island of Nepenthe, a thinly disguised version of Capri. The story follows Thomas Heard, an Anglican bishop returning from his African diocese, who stops on the island and becomes increasingly absorbed in its unconventional society. Surrounded by expatriates, eccentrics, freethinkers, aristocrats, and other colorful residents, Heard finds his conventional moral outlook challenged by the island’s relaxed attitudes toward life, love, and morality. The novel combines social satire, philosophical conversation, sensuality, and adventure against the beautiful but volatile setting of the Mediterranean." #book #gift #hardcover #classic #vintage
