1930s Alligator Accessory Box. Could be as early as the 1920s. Stamp on inside of flap reads GERMANY...no West or East Germany means it predates the end of WWII. Alligator or faux alligator covers outside and suede lines the inside. There are a few pen marks and oil stains on the inside. See photos for detailed shots of interior. Corners on outside all show wear, but flap closes nicely still. I don't know what this box was made to hold but it falls in line with the accessory box sets that were once so popular. You'd have a box for your stockings, one for your gloves, one for jewelry. Measures 9 cm x 9cm (3 5/8"x3 5/8"). Could have been made for either mens or womens accessories. Could be a cigarette case. I've been collecting, buying, and selling vintage since the 90s and I've never seen a box like this one before. It's very sleek!
