ManifestA: young women, feminism, and the future by Jennifer Baumgardner & Amy Richards “Young women today live by feminism goals, yet feminism itself is undeniably at a crossroads; “girl power” feminists appear to b obsessed with personal empowerment at the expense of politics, while political institutions such as Ms. and NOW are so battle weary they’ve lost their ability to speak to a new generation...” I remember getting this book when I was a baby feminist just learning about feminism and what it means to embody that and loving this book. I suspect it’s a very good starting place for understanding women’s issues but I don’t think it embodies nuance like I’ve come to expect and crave in feminist literature these days (almost 2 decades later). Get for the budding feminist in your life as a wonderful stepping stone towards a bigger bolder life.
