1960's Vintage Fur Stole - For many women in postwar Britain a fur coat, preferably mink, represented the height of luxury and the ultimate object of desire. In popular culture the ambition to own a fur coat became a defining quality of femininity, tantamount to a secondary sexual characteristic. The 1950′s saw designers such as Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and Balenciaga including fur jackets in their collections. Fur jackets became part of a woman’s evening and daytime attire, and during cold weather the women would wear a matching fur hat. This exquisite 1960′s fully lined fur stole is in immaculate condition for its age. It is lined with a chocolate brown silk and features two small hand pockets. This stole is designed to drape on the shoulders and fastens together with a hook and eye clasp.
