SS2012 Né-Net Shirt Pants Unofficially titled “Né-Net University,” SS2012 was a college feverdream consisting of sleepyheads with shirts on for pants, hoity-toity club members, nature lovers, and the average class-goers. In typical Né-Net fashion, the show blended gender by means of whimsical construction rooted in unisex, streamlined styles and fabrication. The designs reflect what became known as “Ametora” in 1960s Japan; a term used to describe styles inspired by traditional American East Coast dress with a hefty source being Ivy League preppiness. From the irresponsible farty tardy students, a pair of pants thrown on so fast they didn’t realize it was actually a shirt. With sleeves set into the hips, a collar around the waistband, a button-down placket, and back yoke + box pleat, it should be unmistakable, but the underlying pattern really is a chic pair of pants with a dumpster drop crotch.
